About the Professor of Innovation in Schooling
The new professor will develop work that is aligned with the UON’s commitment to equity in all levels of education, and develop and deliver innovative programs and courses in teacher education as well a research in schooling that takes advantage of new and emerging knowledge about learning and changing workforce needs.
This newly created role follows on UON’s recent launch of the Global Learning Equity Network aimed to reframe teacher education by putting learning and equity within the same focus, and track best practice to see what’s really having an impact in classrooms and on school leadership. The goal is to establish benchmarks and build evidence base of what is working, to understand the benefits and consequences of change in the classroom, and the impact on children’s learning.

Newcastle and the Hunter region offers an ideal ‘lab’ for reform to address learner equity in the classroom: UON has one of the largest teaching education programs in Australia, UON has ongoing strong community links, plus school leaders in the region are keen to hear new insights from UON.
