Congratulations to David Cross on being appointed to the role of Chief of Staff, Office of the Vice-Chancellor at UNSW. David joins UNSW from Blueprint Institute, where he has been CEO, and he brings prior senior experience from the New South Wales Education Ministry and The University of Sydney. David holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in International Relations and Politics from the Australian National University, a Master of Philosophy in Political Science and Government from University of Cambridge, and he is undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Policy at The University of Sydney.
In the Chief of Staff role David will drive strategic initiatives which require an integrated approach across the university and with external partners.
About the role
The Chief of Staff acts to provide expert support to the Vice-Chancellor in relation to planning, decision- making, project management, and the execution of initiatives which support the impactful delivery of UNSW’s strategic goals.
Collaborating with the Vice-Chancellor and senior leadership of the university, the role operates both internally and externally, developing and driving strategic initiatives which require an integrated approach across the university and with external partners.
The Chief of Staff is responsible for the oversight of initiatives for the Vice-Chancellor and, working closely with UNSW’s senior leadership team, creates a culture of achievement and collaboration which drives outcomes in the best interests of UNSW.
The role will represent the Vice-Chancellor when required, and serve as the primary liaison and point of contact between the Vice-Chancellor and stakeholders.
