About the role

The Faculty Executive Director (FED) is a key leadership role that is part of the Senior Management Team responsible for the strategic and operational management of UNSW Business School.

The FED is responsible for overseeing the delivery of strategies, plans and processes, to ensure the Business School meets its academic, research, teaching and learning, and social impact outcomes. In particular, the Faculty Executive Director is the conduit between the Business School and UNSW professional service teams which may be located in the Business School or centrally. The FED works to broker resources and services from central and embedded functions to ensure Faculty strategic objectives and KPIs are achieved, including financial outcomes. Key to success in the role is the ability to network and operate strategically, to anticipate and mitigate challenges, support the academic functions and champion Business School activities that make it an active contributor to the success and culture of UNSW.

This is an exciting time to adapt to and shape the opportunities and challenges of the higher education sector,  and the FED will play a critical part of  in delivering the Business School’s social aims and commercial imperatives in this new environment.

The right candidate

The right candidate can build collaborative relationships to identify, capture and expand opportunities for the Business School and UNSW, and incorporate the needs of students, industry partners and other external stakeholders. The FED needs to be strategic within a complex organisational context, and work effectively in a shared services model.

An ideal background would bring experience across key organisational functions including HR, finance, marketing, IT and operations, that will enable the effective delivery of outcomes and work collaboratively in a diverse campus setting.

The next FED for UNSW Business School brings the ability to the translate key strategic issues facing the higher education sector, and particularly business and management education and research, into practical requirements of an internationally competitive academic endeavour.
