Recent appointments: Dean (Education), College of Education, Psychology and Social Work, Flinders University

Professor Debra Bateman has been appointed Dean (Education) of the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work, Flinders University. She will take up the position this month on November 25, 2019.

Welcoming the appointment, Flinders Vice-President and Executive Dean Professor Mike Kyrios said Professor Bateman’s outstanding record at RMIT and Deakin University, and leading academic endeavours in the field of education, social work, human services and social sciences, ideally qualify her to join the College leadership team.

Professor Bateman brings a sustained track record of success and commitment in areas of Teacher Education, Curriculum Policy and Tertiary Education Leadership (Higher Education and TAFE).

With extensive experience in academic management and working across disciplines at an executive level, the Dean (Teaching, Learning and Student Success) will provide strategic leadership to the College as a member of the College Executive Leadership Team.  The position will drive the development, implementation and review of learning and teaching initiatives, which align and deliver on the University’s strategic plan and College targets.

Key to your success in the role will be your absolute commitment to student success and quality, proven collaboration skills, a willingness to respectfully challenge the status quo and innovate coupled with exceptional organisational and stakeholder management skills.
